DPS scores high in CBSE Class 10 results

Two days after its student Sama Shabir, daughter of separatist leader Shabir Shah, topped the CBSE Class 12 results in Jammu and Kashmir, DPS Srinagar put up an impressive show in the Class 10 results announced by CBSE on Tuesday.
Of a total 282 students of DPS Srinagar who appeared in the Class 10 board examination, at least 4 students have secured 96 percent marks and above, the school said in a statement.
“Among the notable performances are: Saliq Nissar Bhat who scored 96.8%, Mir Fadil with 96.4%, Damina Pandita and Bisma Zahoor with 96 % (each),” read the statement.
Pro-Vice Chairman DPS Srinagar, Vijay Dhar, said in the statement that 205 DPS students had secured distinctions in the Class 10 results.
Expressing delight over the performance of the institution in the board examination, Dhar said in his statement, “The results again prove that the school strives to provide quality education and place students on the path of chequered careers”.
The CBSE said that the overall pass percentage in the Class 10 results was 86.70, reported the PTI.
Like in Class 12 results, girls, with a pass percentage of 88.67, have done better than boys who recorded a pass percentage of 85.32.
Four students – Prakhar Mittal of DPS Gurgaon, Rimzhim Agarwal of RP Public School, Bijnor, Nandini Garg of Scottish International School, Shamli, and Sreelakshmi G of Bhavan’s Vidyalaya, Kochi – have topped the exam with 499 marks out of 500.
Seven students and 14 students bagged 2nd and 3rd positions with 498 and 497 marks, respectively.
More than 16 lakh students had appeared for the Class 10 examinations this year. After about 20 schools from Kashmir recently got affiliated with the CBSE, this year’s were the maiden results for the schools in the valley under the central government’s board.
