DPS Srinagar wins zonal level U-17 Cricket Tournament

Delhi Public School Srinagar has won the zonal level U-17 cricket tournament for zone Amira Kadal held by department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir. The DPS Srinagar defeated Balhama high school by a 43 runs in the finals.

Batting first after winning the toss, the school put a stellar performance with the bat and scored 103 runs in allotted ten overs. Qari Nabeel top scored with 39 runs and Ibrahim provided him good support by scoring 23 runs. The bowlers defended the total admirably as the opposing team was bowled out for just 60 runs. Basit, Afaan and Sarmad each chipped in with two wickets apiece.

After the splendid show, five students from the team have been chosen as part of the team that would represent Amira Kadal zone in the inter-zonal competition. This is the largest number that any school sent to the team.

Principal DPS Alistair R A Freese has congratulated the winning team and students. “We are proud of budding cricketers  who have once again brought laurels to the school,” he said.
