Debbie Macomber is one of the most revered authors of recent times. She was born on 22nd October, in 1948, in Yakima in Washington. Mastering the genre of romance and contemporary women fiction, she has produced some of the most fantastic works.
She holds the reputation of being one of the bestselling authors in New York Times. She beautifully creates her characters and real life stories that leave great and indelible impact on readers. She draws on tales from everyday life, home and family, small town life from her observations and experiences. She grabs the attention of readers with incorporation of delightful humor in her books.
Macombers despite being dyslexic and unable to read till fifth grade, was not deterred by her inability and fulfilled her dream of being published. In 1982, her manuscript, Heartsong was published by Silhouette Books and was reviewed by Publishers Weekly. Later on, she featured in Newsweek and her popularity keeps increasing ever since.
Three of her novels made into the top spot in bestselling lists of renowned publications. Debbie is also the first ever person to receive a “Readers’ Choice” Quill Award for her work on romance. She also won the RITA, an RT Book Reviews and Career Achievement Award in 2005 and also won Hot Medallion and the B. Dalton Award.
In 2009, Debbie published her first ever cookbook, Children’s Book and another inspirational non-fiction book. She was also honored with the prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 by the Romance Writers of America.
In that same year, Hallmark Channel made her novel into a TV made movie, which was the channel’s most watched movie of the year. The channel is also planning to premier another movie based on another novel by her.
Debbie most recent work includes a Blossom Street Novel, A Turn in the Road and the 11th and 12th books in her Cedar Cove series.
Besides her writing career, Debbie concentrates on knitting from leisure arts and also on her own Yarn Store in Port Orchard, Washington. The store was named “A Good Yarn” after her book on knitting in Blossom series.
In 2010, she launched her own yarn series, which was designed to complement the “Blossom series”.
Debbie resides in Washington with her husband and four children. She along with her writing career continues her knitting and yarn work. She serves as the Guidepost on National Advisory Cabinet along with her husband, Wayne.
