While commenting on the role of reading newspapers in cracking civil service exams, Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan who secured second position in UPSC 2015 examination Friday said that “newspaper reading is the soul for cracking the civil service examinations.”
He asked IAS/KAS aspirants to read the newspapers every day as they are the highest source of knowledge, soul and heart for cracking the examinations.
He said these words while addressing IAS/KAS aspirants at a Seminar organised by Ignited Minds (a couching academy), in Kara Nagar, Srinagar.
He said, “All those aspirants who want to crack civil service examinations should read a lot in multiple perspectives and there is no compromise to it.”
Don’t be arrogant, writing skills can only be developed when you read, he said. “To develop writing it is impossible without reading.”
He also advised students to read about different issues and understand them in a global perspective.
“There is no short cut to hard work. Three things are important hard work, commitment and efforts.” he said.
He also asked them to read about the art and culture which is an identity of who you are. He urged them to be realistic and grounded and read the questions banks which will improve accuracy.
Khan said, “Reading material of standard will explore ingredients. Work hard and prove to be different from others. Reading will make your preparations focused.”
He said that due to newspapers one will be able to write well and understand the different kinds of issues worldwide.
Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi, a young man from south Kashmir, secured second rank in the country, in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2015 examination.
Earlier Ira Singhal an Indian civil servant who scored highest in the Civil Service Examination for the year 2014 interacted with the students cum civil service aspirants who had come from different marks of the valley.
She delved aspirants with suggestions to crack the civil service examination. A question answer session was also held in the seminar with both the guests. Scores of aspirants from different parts of valley participated in the daylong seminar.
